Came in Madrid to relax and have fun, this hotel was nice place for doing it. Helpful, really nice staff. Liked having a small balcony.

Noisy street, but can't fault the hotel.

This is without question one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. The rooms are immaculately clean, modern, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. There is a balcony but one hears no noise from the street during the night. The hydromassage shower is a wonderful new experience. The young man running the hotel, his name is Ruben, speaks perfect English (a very rare thing in Spain!!!!) and he was extremely friendly helpful in all of my needs. I have not found better service anywhere. The hotel is located only two minutes away from the metro "Sol" - a perfect location to get anywhere in Madrid by public transportation. The price of the room was very very reasonable...I will always book this hotel when again in Madrid!!!!

Do not be dismayed by the outer appearance of the building when seeing it from the street. The outside looks somewhat run down. Apparently the city of Madrid does not invest in the facade of buildings. One must also carry one's suitcase up two short flights of stairs to reach the reception - there is no elevator. Once one reaches the second floor, one feels as if one is in a modern Spanish paradise. This small disadvantage in no way mars the many many advantages that this hotel offers.

As other reviewers have said, Madrid City Rooms is a hidden gem. The hotel is small, but a lot of thought has gone into everything. Clever use has been made of limited space, and the fittings are of an extremely high standard - my bathroom, in particular, was beautifully finished, with a very upmarket shower system. The young man on reception was very polite, friendly and helpful, providing an excellent service. My room was small but comfortable, clean and (inside the hotel) quiet.

There are certain things you should realise before booking a room here. Firstly, the property is right in the city centre, only a couple of minutes from Puerta del Sol. This makes it very convenient, but the area is busy at night (particularly on a Saturday, when I stayed there) and there is a lot of noise from people in the street, which even double glazing and a steel shutter can't block out. I recommend a good pair of earplugs (and even with those, I could still hear people outside). Secondly, the hotel is not easily identifiable from the street. You need to follow the building numbers and look up to spot the hotel sign high on the wall, a couple of floors up. Access is via keypad/intercom next to an unmarked door, so you need to buzz up to reception when you first arrive to be let in; after that, you're given a code to let yourself in. As far as I could see, there is no lift. This means that you have to lug your suitcase up a couple of floors, on a narrow, winding staircase. You may arrive at the top a little warm and short of breath. That said, the young man on reception offered to help me with my case when I left, so it may well be that he would help you on arrival too. I don't mean these as criticisms, because I actually have a very positive opinion of the hotel. They're just things that you should be aware of, and which might influence your decision if you're a more mature traveller, prefer a quiet environment or have mobility issues.

I booked at Madrid City Rooms because of the excellent reviews and the affordability. I was not disappointed. The rooms appear small, but use the available space efficiently so you don't feel cramped at all. The room features powered black out windows which truly make the room totally dark for sleeping. I had read there were some complaints of street noise, but the two double-paned windows eliminated nearly all of that. There was remote control for heating/cooling unit and the flat screen tv. There was also a small refrigerator. WiFi was free and worked well. The shower in the bathroom was amazing. All practically new with 4 different jets sources available. I looked forward to using it every day. The location in literally 2 minutes from Puerta del Sol, 5 minutes to Gran Via and just few minutes more to the Chueca district. It is a 2-3 minute walk to the Metro. For the price there is nothing that comes close to Madrid City Rooms for comfort, cleanliness, or location.....nothing.

Although it was no problem for me, there is no lift. One must walk up 2 flights of stairs in a square spiral fashion. This could be a bit difficult with large luggage.

Location could not have been better. Everything within reach. Staff friendly and helpful.

Kind of difficult to find unless you realize to look up to see the sign of the hotel as it is not on the ground floor. Luckily I had read about this on Booked.net

What a great stay we had here! I was so impressed by the professionalism of the staff, the attention given for every aspect and detail. The rooms are not big, but are comfortable, clean, with new amenities. The location is very close both to the airport bus at plaza cibelles, and also on the narrow streets of the old madrid, with its many cafes, museums, restaurants and theatres. Loved it!

Everything! Ruben, who is there all the time made everything wonderful for our stay. When we needed to go out for Flamenco dinner & show at late hours, he called taxi for us to be picked up from hotel and also from after the show. Room is small, but everything you need is in the room and kept very clean! Also, he kept our bags for extended hours before check in time and after check out hours due to our flights schedule. He was helpfull for everyway!! We would go back again :-)

The staff was great. Very kind and helpful when I needed advice. The room was new, simple but nicely decorated and well equipped. The shower was top 5. The double windows and the electric shutter/blind/venetian provide for a much more silent and darker room than other hostels in the surroundings.
